Are E-books Dying – and More Body Weight Stuff

June 8, 2011 By Brad Pilon

A couple of days ago I made the statement on Facebook that I thought fitness E-books were dead..or at least dying.

My reason was simple – with no barriers to entry pretty much ANYONE can whip together an E-book and start selling it.

Now, I’m not saying that e-information is dead, and I’m a big fan of the written word, my thought was/is more along the lines that the on-line fitness industry will soon be ready for a brand new medium.
Books like Eat Stop Eat will always be a book, because it’s content based…but workouts – they could be so much more than a PDF and some youtube videos…so sooner or later, someone was going to raise the bar

Turns out I was right…or at least I could be.

I want you to take a look at this site ==>

This is a promotional link for Adam Steer’s new workout program, that regardless of whether or not you’re in the market for a new workout I want you to check out for the impressive amount of work they put into creating their videos and their website.

In my opinion this is a perfect example of why traditional workout e-books are dying – because people like Adam are stepping up the game and utilizing the Web to its full potential…And they’re doing it with humor, entertainment and style. I mean really – Workouts are NOT rocket surgery, there’s not reason there can’t be some fun involved.

In the next couple years fitness and nutrition people will have to do at least one of two things (hopefully both) to keep up – Keep updating their product to make sure the information is top notch, cutting edge and (most importantly) correct… and they need to up the entertainment value and make sure the whole process is enjoyable.

So my congrats to Adam and his team for making fitness fun again

Also, the launch of Adam’s new book has renewed my interest in body weight training. My plan is to do a search and see if I can find any research directly comparing body weigh training to conventional weight training with the main outcome of increases in muscle size.

As much as I love body weight training, I remain skeptical that it can build muscle the same way that conventional weight training can, so I’ll let you know what I come up with.

Either way, next week we’re talking body weight training again.

Why we hate the BMI

A new study adds to the growing evidence that an elevated BMI increases the risk of a heart attack in otherwise healthy people. In what has been called the largest study of its kind (data on over 500,000 people) researchers classified participants based on their body mass index (BMI), calculated as weight (kg) divided […]

How Many Calories can you Burn in a day?

Have you ever stopped to think that there might be an upper-limit to how many calories you can burn in a day? Basically a ‘ceiling rate’ at which we can burn through calories? Probably not, but don’t worry… I did for you! I’ve heard rumors of people eating well over 10,000 calories during a single […]

Reverse Taper Intermittent Fasting

The concept of the Reverse Taper Diet is still one of my favorite ideas. Without getting too technical, the concept is that you should be in your largest calorie deficit (eating the least amount of food) at the beginning of your diet, when you have the most fat to lose and thus the most fat […]

Fasting for Weight Loss – Setting the Record Straight

Paleo eating and vegan eating are the EXACT SAME THING. This is why any and all research on Paleo diets can be used for Vegan diets, and vice versa. It’s also why any personal experiences people have had with a Vegan diet can be directly applied to what you will probably experience with the Paleo […]
