Brad Pilon on ‘The IF Life’

I just did a really fun interview for ‘The IF Life’.

It was a joint round table discussion between the author of the IF Life, Martin Berkhan of LeanGains.com and yours truly.

We covered our basic philosophies on IF (Intermittent Fasting), the biggest mistake we see people making with IF (Can you guess what I said?), and our top advice for anybody wanting to try intermittent fasting for the first time.

You can read the interview here ==> Intermittent Fasting Round table

I purchased ESE and found it to be a good read. However, it would have been better if you had put some templates in regarding sample food intake and exercise plans. While these plans would vary from person to person, it would give one an idea of how to put together their own plan. Maybe you could post an overview of your weekly food intake and exercise in your blog.

    Hi Anon,

My food intake isn’t planned out, and I don’t really beleive in food plans.

Sorry, let me correct that, I don’t beleive in handing out food plans.

Food plans should be based on the foods you like to eat, not what I think you should be eating.

As long as you are concentrating on eating slightly less than you normally do, are eating lots of fruits and vegetables and are enjoying the foods you eat, then you don’t need a meal plan from me.

    Hi Jessie,

I’m fasting today, but I can tell you that yesterday I ate:

Bowl of Oatmeal with blueberries and bananas with a glass of whole milk…I probably ate two or three additional handfuls of blueberries while I was making the oatmeal ;)

Large coffee with two cream and one sugar from Tim Horton’s

    A pear and a banana

2-hard boiled eggs on a bagel with Havarti cheese and Cajun spice.

    Apple slices

Lindt chilli infused dark chocolate bar (split with my wife and my little girl)

Steak with sauteed mushrooms and onions and mashed sweet potatoes. (I Washed this down with a pint of Guinness).

Bowl of yogurt with sliced almonds.

    Hot Chocolate.

In response to the suggestion for Brad to have specific food plans in his book, I have to say that the work his more powerful without it and Brad you were wise NOT to put it in!

I understand the drive for people to be able to open a book and have a plan to which they can aspire, but it would detract from your central message in many ways and also derail attention from the power of the fasting component to a dietary component.

So, though I do understand Anon’s suggestion and interest, I must say that I think the book is better without the food framework.

    Cheers!
