Losing Ten Pounds in a Month

May 15, 2010 By Brad Pilon

So today I embark on a bit of an odd mission.

I’m going to try and get my fasted weight down to 165 pounds.

Not permanently or anything…but rather to see if I can get into the 165 pound weight class at an upcoming push/pull meet.

(bench press and dead lift competition)

The original plan was to do a full meet, but I’m still having some slight issues with my squat…so for my first meet in a LONG time I’m going to play it safe.

Obviously, my fed weight won’t be 165…but I’m also going to do the meet fasted..so I just need a fasted weight of 165.

So..what’s the crazy new diet strategy I’m going to follow?

Eat Stop Eat. (Of course)

I maintain my weight at around 175-179 by fasting once every 5 days or so.

To get my fasted weight down to 165 (from around 173), I’m simply going to up my fasting to roughly once every 2-3 days.

That and I’ll make a bit of a conscious effort to cut back (but not cut out) the chocolate and treats.

That’s all it will take. Increased Fasting, but nothing extreme, and a slightly higher level of responsible, conscious eating.

And I’m sticking with the ‘Zen of Nutrition’ philosphy…keeping it as simple as possible and not letting myself get obsessive about the eating part of the plan.

Finally, as an update on the new workout: Everything has gone really well.

Starting in June I’ll explain the whole project, including a couple teleseminars to cover some really cool new research.

Until then it’s going to be a busy couple weeks of more writing, and some video shoots…

Why we hate the BMI

A new study adds to the growing evidence that an elevated BMI increases the risk of a heart attack in otherwise healthy people. In what has been called the largest study of its kind (data on over 500,000 people) researchers classified participants based on their body mass index (BMI), calculated as weight (kg) divided […]

How Many Calories can you Burn in a day?

Have you ever stopped to think that there might be an upper-limit to how many calories you can burn in a day? Basically a ‘ceiling rate’ at which we can burn through calories? Probably not, but don’t worry… I did for you! I’ve heard rumors of people eating well over 10,000 calories during a single […]

Reverse Taper Intermittent Fasting

The concept of the Reverse Taper Diet is still one of my favorite ideas. Without getting too technical, the concept is that you should be in your largest calorie deficit (eating the least amount of food) at the beginning of your diet, when you have the most fat to lose and thus the most fat […]

Fasting for Weight Loss – Setting the Record Straight

Paleo eating and vegan eating are the EXACT SAME THING. This is why any and all research on Paleo diets can be used for Vegan diets, and vice versa. It’s also why any personal experiences people have had with a Vegan diet can be directly applied to what you will probably experience with the Paleo […]
