I’ve described Eating Responsibly as Eating Like An Adult.
My view is that we’ve all had our turn being kids, which means we’ve had our turn eating like kids.
We’ve had our ice-cream birthday parties and our stomach aches from eating too much candy at the movies.
We’re adults now. Time to eat like it.
This means being aware of what you’re eating and how much you are eating. Be aware of what “too much” is and avoid it when possible.
It also means having some sort of plan about how you are going to eat. However, eating responsibly isn’t just about having a plan, or even following a plan.
Eating responsibly is all about what you do when your plan is broken.
It’s how you deal with temptation or with the stress that occurs when your plan goes awry.
When your parents aren’t looking and the cookies are left out on the counter and all the other kids are stealing cookies, what do you do?
That’s how I define responsible eating, It’s how you eat in the face of adversity.
