Harsh…..but Mitchell and Webb are always funny
Hilarious!
Brilliant.
Brad how did you find this clip? I’m impressed that someone in North America would have seen this. Those two do a really good show called the peep show, I don’t think this clip was from that particular show. It was a brilliant piece of British comedy, makes me want to wave the Union Jack around with a single tear of pride rolling down my cheek… Just kidding.
Seriously though, these sort of jokes seem to indicate that people generally, at least at an unconscious level, have an awareness that there is a lot of misinformation and profiteering going on in the world of health and nutrition. Before I stumbled upon your material I would still believe in and buy into all the health claims despite understanding those kind of jokes. Goes to show the power of advertising and profiteering I suppose.
This may be funny but this is the type of advice you get all the time form experts. It been a blessing to have found your site, I no longer feel confused when I hear stuff like this
I’ve worked in health food stores for years and you wouldn’t believe how close to the truth this is, the staff especially the nutritionists are spoonfed the snake oil patter about the product and placated with free samples then they pass on all this misinformation to gullible customers.
Penta Water was a good example
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penta_Water
I remember complaining to the central buyer for our company that this was a load of bull and she agreed but wouldn’t get rid of it because it sold well.
that’s is a riot! all too true, man. the ‘health’ industry is just that, an industry.
i say, eat foods that nourish you and are healthy based on your definition of healthy. eat foods that you can eat from the plant, tree, or from the flesh. if it’s in a box or bag avoid it like the plague. food in a box is from industry, and so is most ‘health’ advice.
keep calories at or slightly below BMR, and of course, ESE. the rest is a breeze…
cheers.
Priceless. Fantastic video. And 100% true. I always liken it to the Wizard of Oz. There is nothing behind the nutrition “curtain” just like there was no great and powerful Oz, except a scared old guy. Behind the nutrition curtain are tons of companies looking to make big money by propagating myths.

LOL! Not harsh, it conveys the way things are behind the scenes very well. Hilarious, but of course the consequences of what many marketers get away with can be grim.
I do my best to find out what the studies have actually said, whether they should be trusted, etc. and love how ESE can fit into whatever eating habits a person has as long as calories are kept at a level that don’t pack pounds on in between fasts.
Even if a certain food DOES seem to be a problem for someone (for example, wheat/gluten is something I will likely have to avoid for the rest of my life – confirmed by medical tests and the resolution of problems I had after going gluten free), it’s rare that a change in diet will resolve everything.
I wonder where things will be at in, say, 100 years – if there will be more or less understanding about what does what and fool-proof cures for diseases that are killing people now.
Chris,
Your Wizard of Oz analogy is certainly a brilliant comparison. So I guess North America is ‘the Wicked Witch of the West’???
Hi Brad, this is a bit off point, but i asked before in another thread but got no reply, i know you might not want to comment on the efficacy of a similar IF system, but its all still credit to YOU. Is there a real difference between fasting every day and eating within a 4 or 5 hour window and EstopE, please you reply will be highly appreciated. thanks
Hey Wolvy,
Sorry I missed the question before…
In what way do you mean ‘difference?’ weight loss?
B
So true and not harsh at all. I like the one on homoeopathy the best.

Hi Brad, thanks a lot for getting back, yes i mean weight loss and hgh release see as it allows you fast for about 19 hours, thanks
Hi Brad -
Lets do the run down: Blueberries, Oat cakes and Quinoua (Oh My!), Wheat Grass (especially for wheat intolerance – very beneficial), Cous Cous, Sea salt (not the normal kind, mind: SEA salt) and humus or olive oil (in case you loose weight and don’t come back).
I would be curious as to the “difference” between 24 hour fasting and 18 hour every day fasting too. Weight loss wise ;D (Though I have to be honest – I KNOW I can stick to the ESE style. !8 hours every day? Not so sure… )
