Be careful with transformation photos…or really any physique photos for that matter.
By getting a tan, making sure your skin is well moisturized, shaving your body hair (guys) and getting a pump at the gym, you can easily make yourself look 10 pounds more muscular and 5 pounds less fat. This is very important when you are doing your Before and After photos.
To illustrate my point, I took these two pictures two days apart:
The picture on the left is just regular old me. I’m not fasted, and I’m not flexing. I’m 177 pounds and my normal body fat levels (Thanks to following the Eat Stop Eat lifestyle). I’m not sticking my gut out, or trying to look miserable (although I took the pic at midnight so I do look a little tired).
The picture on the right is regular old me after a couple tanning sessions, a quick shave of the chest and one really good chest and shoulders workout. I’m still 177 pounds and the same amount of body fat that I was two days before in my before picture.
To keep this experiment honest I did not fast in-between shoots and the only workout I did was the one right before the photo on the right.
As I hope you can see, some well timed pre-photo prep work can do wonders for your before and after pics. And, it is very important that you take this into consideration when viewing any sort of before and after pics. If I could do this in two days, imagine what could be done in 8 weeks.

PS- Both these pics were taken in my house with regular lighting, if I really wanted to make the difference extreme I would have used better lighting in the after photo.

Dude, you’re ripped! I hope to be where you are some day soon!
Hi Billy,
Thanks for the compliment. The way you are looking these days, I can say the same thing.
Keep up the great work.

Gostei muito desse post e seu blog é muito interessante, vou passar por aqui sempre =) Depois dá uma passada lá no meu site, que é sobre o CresceNet, espero que goste. O endereço dele é http://www.provedorcrescenet.com . Um abraço.
Wow..thanks for the tips! I need to do some pictures for my website in a couple weeks!
Wow, thats pretty cool, what a difference a tan can make! Any tips for girls?
Hi Taylor,
I’d guess the exact same things would work for a girl that would for a guy.
A tan, moisturizer, workout pump and some posing and flexing would probably due the trick nicely.
It would be a really great experiment for you blog!

[...] The model may do a pump-up style workout to make certain parts of his or her body look bigger than normal (arms, chest, shoulders..that sort of thing) – I did an example of how much a pump and a tan can effect the way you look..you can check it out HERE. [...]
Impressive pics. You look a lot beefier than 177 lbs, but we can’t see your lower body development. I had to laugh reading your article as it reminded me of the dozens of Weider magazines I’ve collected over the years where they didn’t have Photoshop and fancy computer equipment. What they used was scissors.
Joe Weider would have his wife ‘cut’ in such a way that often she’d only have 3 toes and what looked like a 12 inch waist. Why they cut her feet down to a point, killing off a few toes, was always a mystery to me.
By the way, wifey wants some green pans but amazon.com has many negative reviews claiming poor non-stick performance after a few months. What say you?
…and imagine how much of a difference you’d get if you use all these methods and actually lose some fat or put on a bit of muscle…
Hi Art,
The Green Pans are still going really strong for me…and beat them up on a regular basis.
I forget the name of the old pinup model that use to always appear on the back of M&F mags…they used to cut her waist down so small that her belly button ended up looking like a silver dollar in comparison to the size of her waist. Funny stuff.
