The comments on my last post really made me stop and take pause. They made me realize that it’s really easy to lose your way in this business.
I have a little over 200o friends on facebook. A good number of these friends are fitness and nutrition professionals.
As a result when I log onto facebook (I do so daily) my news feed is full of the usual.
The usual being “This sucks, that sucks, carbs suck, fat sucks, this person doesn’t know what they are talking about, that person is an idiot…train heavy or you suck, if you’re fat your lazy blah blah blah”
This industry is becoming very negative, very quickly.
And I understand why ==> I’m just as guilty as anyone when it comes to dipping into the negative mood stuff
Yes, there area few exceptional marketers making exceptional money with…well… interesting takes on physiology and metabolism.
Yes the magazines and newspapers do us a disservice by letting anyone and everyone write articles on nutrition.
But the point of this industry isn’t to sit around complaining about these sorts of things.
It’s about helping people lose weight. It’s about challenging people to think about (or rethink) their approaches to weight loss and it’s to help steer them in a direction that allows them to create the body they want as easily as possible.
It’s about helping people become self reliant – Self Reliance Starts with recognizing who you are and what you have to work with and what works best for you…
Lastly, it’s about helping people become awesome.
So here’s the deal.
If you catch me in being overly negative on this blog. Leave a comment and remind me to stay focused on Helping People Lose Weight (and Build muscle and be awesome).
The internet doesn’t need anymore whiners

Does that include whining about Roll Up The Rim?
Seriously I agree…and am guilty of this myself. Great point Brad! I probably needed this reminder.
great post buddy. Totally agree.
You are keeping it real again! …btw I read a lot of what you write and on Facebook, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you write negative stuff on people! ..am I missing something? …
What happens if I catch you making a lot of grammatical errors?
Well said Brad! There are so many negative people out there. Health and Fitness is supposed to be fun. It may be a challenge but that is part of the fun!
Nope…Roll up the Rim is allowed…I’m almost at 1 for 10!
I don’t do it on-line, I tend to bore my friends and family with it in person. Still not constructive.

Bill your my go to guy on that one (the ‘your’ was on purpose)

I’ve been listening to your stuff on inflammation. Since I’m not an expert in nutrition and fitness, I’m on my third listen-through. Once I feel like I’ve got all the particulars ingrained and have synthesized the information, I’ll give you some feedback. I seriously inflamed (or however that would be spelled!) myself last night, but nothing that some serious fasting won’t allow my body time to clear up. Can’t wait to see more information!
GREAT post B !! Keep it up !
Hi Brad, I totally agree that the fitness industry can ironically be one of the most negative and strangely judgemental too.
Cheers for this
Marianne
Brad, you should post on the IF Wikipedia site. Would be a good way to spread the word on Eat Stop Eat. Keep up the good work.
I did, they continually remove my information. Apparently being the author of an ebook means you’re obviously trying sell people.
Brad,
I like your attitude!
This is great !;-)
I believe in the same, help folks out where you can, and in my book one of the most important personality attributes is a positive mind and character.
Thanks for all the good stuff by the way, I’m sure there’s tons of folks out there your work has helped and who appreciate it as I do.

Hi Brad,
I absolutely agree with you about the negativity in this field, but I appreciate people like you who are sincerely trying to help people. I wish there were more people like you because health isn’t something to mess around with.
Thanks!
