Abs in a Box

abs in a box Abs in a Box

Just more proof that you can’t trust what you see.

Of course, since this is an ad, the fake abs may themselves be faked via photoshop…so this could be a case of faked fakes.

I found this very fitting considering our recent discussion of Hollywood body idolization, and because I still think much of the muscle and tone we see in movies is a result of a combi

nation of dedication in the gym, a good diet of fruits and vegetables, video editing, makeup, and lighting.

Brad, if while getting chiselled abs we rely completely on diet and do no abs exercises is that possible? I am at 8.5% body fat and I they aint ripped. I just have flat abs with only a bit of definition on the pelvic muscle part. Whats with it?

Nice, airbrush abs to go. Interesting that you mention video editing, makeup and lighting. I remember Demi Moore doing that stripper movie, I’m sure she talked about her “ab” shots being enhanced with CGI. She admitted in an interview that she has stretch marks after childbirth but that was all taken out with the editing process. I guess the spray-on tan will hide all that as well.

Have you seen ab implant surgery? Can’t remember where I saw it, but it was pretty funny! The guy had man boobs and a six pack.

Saw a clip on youtube that walked you through the step towards applying make-up to your mid-section for ’sexy abs’. This one is just as silly…

Ya know, they can look good “faked” there, but what happens in snug fitting jeans or a tight fitting shirt HHHMMMMMMMMMMMM

This is just way to funny and ridiculous. Unfortunately, some people will fall for it. Great job on getting it out there!

Even a side shot where you can see the ab definition can be photoshopped. I’m ssoooo disillusioned. Oh,yeah. Thanks, Omar. Now I’m thinking, “Please let it be the same chick…please let it be the same chick…”

hahaha that is hilarious and sad. It gives false hope to some….abs come from hard work and the right dieting for your body type…end of story…:)

Hilarious. I gotta get me some of that stuff. And then shoot myself.

@ Aditya: It depends on the person, but for the most part you’ll need to do some abdominal work to see a “six-pack”. They’re muscles, like any other. If you want ‘em to grow, you’ve got to work ‘em. If you really want your abs to “pop”, use weighted resistance.

By the way, it doesn’t have to be abs-isolation work, though. I get great results on my abs from doing whole-body stuff like kettlebell exercises, especially swings, windmills, Turkish get-ups, and particularly “renegade rows” (they don’t look like they’d work your abs particularly, but the torque/stabilization aspect makes them an abdominal SHREDDER!). I don’t do much “ab work” per se, and I maintain a pretty visible six-pack at well over 10% body fat.
